July 2019 Newsletter :

Hello All ,

Well where to start , what a weekend’s racing we have just had at the iconic 1978 GP race venue of Kilmartin . Considering there had not been a bike on here in over 30 years and for the Twinshocks to put this event on in less than 6 weeks was pretty remarkable . The track itself was challenging from the steep hills to the off cambers which made for a very challenging & entertaining days racing . The weather was not kind to us with rain over the weekend making it very slippery at the beginning for practice , however once racing got underway as always everything run like clockwork . Jim Grieve has completed your race report for you and as always it can be found on the Website , Facebook or TMX.

There are a few Club Members which need a special mention who worked tirelessly to make this event happen , Brian , Connell , Grant , Ritchie & Alasdair .

Obviously without the support of Jonathan McLeod and his band of workers Ronnie , Jamie & GP Johnny this would never have happened . The amount of spectators who attended the meeting just to watch and chat with all of us was pretty amazing , the word which everyone was using was buzzing !! A few local papers were also in attendance so look for further coverage of this Race Meeting in the Argyle Advertiser & Oban Times .

A massive thanks to all who attended this event and as always never let the Club down as we removed all our litter before all headed home . A sweep of the area was carried out with nothing being lifted so well done to all ..

As this was our first ever visit to this iconic venue we are looking for feedback ( Positive or Negative ) please can you get in touch and let us know , contact myself or any of your committee members and let us know , thanks .

On a more sombre note before the start of racing we held a minutes silence for our fallen rider Ian Robertson #100 and it was humbling to see so many riders with the number plate 100 on their bikes . He will be sadly missed as he was such an infectious full of life character. Our thoughts and condolences are with Ian’s family .

Funeral is on Monday 8th July at Dunmar House Alloa 10:30am , then Blairingone Cemetery.

I can confirm that at the end of this seasons racing we will retire his race number #100 and his name will remain against it for as long as this Club runs .

Well we’ve now reached the halfway point of the season and all Championship Classes are up for grabs as we enter our last 4 race meetings . Next round is at Drumclog July 28th . Entries are now starting to come in so if you haven’t done it get please action asap please as this helps the admin team massively.

Our online payment system which we introduced at the beginning of the season is working very well and approx. 50% of our entries are now paid online and the process seems to be working very well .

We will be looking at tweaking the race format due to the large number of bikes in race 3 . The Clubman Class will be on their own in race 3 as we look to move the Evolution & 2 stroke riders to Race 4 , purely down to numbers .

Tickets will be on sale shortly for our Annual Presentation Awards evening .
