Twinshock Newsletter August 2018

Another load of good news this time to start the Month .What a great weekend past at Lochgilphead for the rescheduled round 6, well it was really only 5 as we have had bad luck with this great weather this year and lost round 5 and 6 to stoor but we managed to at least get racing underway at Argyll . The entry was not as big as usual as a lot of riders were on holiday or working but those that made the trip all had a great days racing. The track was in superb condition and just damp enough to keep the stoor away and the stone pickers Sandy and Keith did a great job on the Saturday night with hardly any to be seen on the Sunday.

The pre 77 class was full to bursting as a boat load of islanders turned up as day entries but it was club stalwarts Joe Mclean and John Hopton that showed them the way home in that order with Ben Doonagin in third .Mr. Hopton reckons he is going to finish the season on a high , aye if some junkie gives him a joint ,The 4 stroke class saw big Mark Kenny take the 3 wins wins to stamp his authority on this class but it could be too late in the season for him to make an impact in the championship as he missed the first rounds due to a heavy workload but wee Don,s hoose is up noo so Mark has plenty time to play and pairty, second and 3rd Keith Stanford and your affable chairman big Rick Caldwell both rode well to take good points home ,a mention must go to the unlucky Sam Sibbald who suffered a broken cable in race 2 which spoiled his overall position. The youths was again won by young Kyle Mcclure with Rory Oxland in 2nd and Gerry Wilson in 3rd. William Penrice tightened his grip on the 125 evo championship with some superb riding to take the overall in this class from Jonathon Young in 2nd and Kevin Rosie who rode steady all day in 3rd. Next up was the Twinshock boys and flyin Brian Alexander took no prisoners with 3 great wins from an up and down Paul Chiappa and returning after injury James Mclean in 3rd with Smitch down in 4th.The 250 Twinshock class is heating up and some super racing saw Callum Kilgour take the overall from Graham Miller on the H.V.A. Husky in second and super quick Dave Stanford in third ,the chasing group was led home by another islander on a day membership Kyle O,lachalsh who raced stongly all day but could not catch the leading trio.

The over 5os this year seems to be dominated by John Crawford with 3 great wins to pump last years champion Jim Greive who is having an up and down year, maybe all that sex or just overworked, anyway Jim rode well to take 3 2nds in this class just aead of stone picker Keith Birse who incidently will be leading the band in the Marquee on the Saturday night at Powmill on the 25th August .Keith finished 3rd equal with the flying Kaffer Mike Vandermerwe whose team is currently running circles round the rest in the team challenge. The evo big boys was great viewing for the many spectators that turned up on the day ,Tam Grant seems to have put the past health issues to bed and was on top form to take the overall from Paul Johnston in 2nd and Mathew Harper 3rd and the local celebrity Barry Smith in 4th .Next up was the Monoshock boys and this was great viewing for that large enthusiastic crowd ,in the 2 stroke class it was Lewis Farrow that dominated with 3 great wins from Bryan Colligan and David Simmonds who battled all day with Andrew White and Peter O,Neil for the podiums and they finished in that order .Monoshock open seems to be on the up as more and more riders enter this class but it was championship leader Greg Maxwell who just pipped Allan Shields for the overall with Karl Livingstone in 3rd just a few points ahead of Shaun Robertson who is still suffering from hoppy knee but looks like he is just about back up to speed . All the results were posted on mylaps on the Sunday night thanks to our super hero Graham Anderson who has been through a traumatic period in his life but still does his bit for the club, thanks bud .   I am writing this from memory so some mistakes may creep in but i try my best and we are still on the lookout for a race reporter for which you get paid £60 per event though i must emphasise that i do it free so dont slag me if it is pish.

The team challenge is looking like a red hot affair now we are well into the season and the points are as follows .Still in the lead on 1037 points is the ONESTOP team but slowly catching with a good tally at Argyll are the Team ARGYLL boys on 856 points with DIAL-A-TOW on 739 and in 4th place are Colin,s Kings on 618 . All to play for with still 3 rounds to go this season .,

Entries for the Saturday at Powmill are poor in fact they are so poor that there are two yes that is correct two for the Saturday .Racing will go ahead as the pit bike team challenge looks like being a starter. This is a 25 lap relay race consisting of 5 riders per team ,5 laps each and costs £50 per team all going to charity.Pit bike things with fourstroke engines like a honda ninety or xr 75 up to 160cc ,each team allowed as many spare bikes as you want but only one on track at a time ,if it breaks down rider must complete the lap on foot ,no shortcuts or dis q. PRIZES FOR ALL,crisps ,sweeties etc.

I will stress this now .THERE WILL BE NO MARSHAL PAYMENTS ON THE SATURDAY .EVERY TEAM MUST SUPPLY A MARSHALL .NO MARSHALL NO RIDE .GET IT NO MARSHALL NO RIDE. EACH PIT BIKE TEAM MUST SUPPLY A MARSHALL ALL DAY .

NO KIDS BIKES. LEAVE IT AT HOME MORTON NO KIDS BIKES .NOT EVEN ELECTRIC ONES

The band Duke Street will be playing in the Marquee from 7-45 p.m. on the Saturday evening where you can have a chat and a wee cuppa before taking to the dance floor.

As was well documented more than a year ago i declared my intention to resign from running the club.A few failed take over attempts were made but as is normal with shite talkers they all failed when they realised what was involved.Well the committee had a meeting on Sunday and Stewart Campbell proposes to put forward a package for the clubs future so we can only keep you informed as things progress or not .This is not a threat anymore if we do not get someone soon to take over the club i.e. before the 16th september the club will be wound up and all monies will be donated to charity as per the club constitution. So there you have it the deadline is the 16th September.

A new stock of WULFSPORT hoodies and T-Shirts arrived last week and about half of the shipment are sold ,if you want to buy a bargain get it now as we are not restocking when they are gone .Adult sizes are £25 for a T-Shirt and a Hoody and kids sizes are only £20 we still have all sizes and the colour this year is blue only .

Well that is it for another few weeks ,remember and leave your kids bikes at home as they are not allowed at our events ,not insured or covered by our rider policy . No riding in the pits ,just enjoy what you have and be grateful .
