June 2014

NEWSLETTER JUNE 2014

Here we are again, with all the news for the month of June in the year 2014. The last round at Stirling last week turned out to be a right cracker, what a superb flowing track that every rider that I spoke said they loved it, I wonder who the guy is that lays out all these great fabulous track for the twinshock club. It must be me as nobody else has the skills and knowhow to set out such great tracks month after month, no one.

I was back up at the track on Monday doing the normal tour of litter duty and hey things are looking up, only a couple of juice cans and some paper left which, l suppose is a lot better than previous meetings but why do people leave junk lying about for someone else to pick up.

I had a good chat with the fermer and after some coaxing he has agreed to let us have the use of the same fields for next year’s Stirling event in June.

The only issue that was noted was after race 14 was red flagged, with only 1 lap remaining I may add, 2 prats had the cheek and audacity to confront the safety officer and remonstrate with him about why the race was stopped, they gave the safety officer a load of abuse until he had had enough and clenched his fist at which point they scarpered. Well if it was me getting abused (sounds good) I think they would have been barred for life with immediate effect. So a warning to all obey the flags and if you do not want to do this or think you know better, please do not come back to our events, you are bad news and are not welcome whoever you may be. To think we had a rider meeting before practice and the major issue was that all riders obey flags, the more I think about it the more I realise we should ban the two riders now.

Big Monty has the race report on his page on the new club website and in the tmx news, he also has the dvd for sale of the full meeting in full colour.

Sandy was back at Stirling taking photos and these are on the website and available to purchase from him as well.

We also have hoodie tops and some zippers left, i will have them with me at Garelochhead for round 5 on the 6th of July.

Sean Doherty has had a loan of a big digger from club stalwart Donny Bruce for the track preparation at Garelochhead, he informs me that a super new track layout is in the offing and parking facilities have been improved, so get those entries in now for Garelochhead on the 6th of July. The date of this event has been moved to make the weekend of the 19th-20th July available for the Robbie Allan 50-50 memorial event at Tinto park, Rigside. This is a charity event and is open to all riders over 40 years old and on a twinshock bike, of course if you have an older bike you will be made equally welcome, there is a trial and enduro on the Saturday and a scramble on the Sunday, get your entry in now as when it’s full, its full. They will accept your iopd licence to race here, so that is good news for our club members ..

The meetings start coming thick and fast now so it is a good time to start planning for round 6 which this year is being held at Argyll Moto park, Achnashelloch farm, Lochgilphead, by kind permission of Stewart Campbell. He assures me that the track is all prepared  and in super shape for us on the 3rd of August, overnight camping is free and he might put on some entertainment in the beer tent if enough of you a going on the Saturday, let us know if you  are so Stewart can make arrangements for you all.

I think you will have heard that Cardenden track has closed albeit temporarily I think. Well the committee have been working hard to make plans for an alternative track for round 8 on the 7th of September. Normally I would have rescheduled to Drumclog but as me and the club have been banned from the place I had to make other plans to put before the committee and we have secured the use of Comerton farm Leuchars for round 8. We hope this is a success and can become one of our tracks every year in the future. That is 2 tracks we have lost this year but we have had many offers of replacements and these will be discussed at the a.g.m. on the 23rd of November at the stables lounge, Crook of Devon.

I heard last week that the maxis mob have pulled out of running a round of the British championship at Drumclog, which at this late hour I think is rather unfair, to get a round in Scotland is good for the sport where ever the track is so whoever is responsible for this in my opinion has not done their job properly. I am not cosying up to anyone here, just stating my opinion.

The great Scottish bike show will sadly not have the pleasure of our attendance this year as Monty could not get enough help from club members and the paperwork arrived too late anyway so no show at the show from Joe and co I will let you know.

Here are the current team points, it seems team Argyll are romping away with it this year, the big mover this month is Britons got talent who have put together some tidy results and move menacingly into second spot.

1..team argyll 749 points

2...brittons got talent  588points

3..rhino racing  579 points

4.. Dial-a-tow   547 points

5..ballistic 5  530points

6..baxters souper tools   478points

7..whiskey throttle  104 points

Craig Robertson is trying to organise a show of the army at our Leuchars and Glenfarg events, this could be a good opportunity for the army to get involved, i.e. marshalling, track building, first aid, etc. Also a good chance for all to see what well trained men we have defending our country. Maybe even join up if you think you are man enough. There will also be a good show of army vehicles on display. Anyone that needs further info can contact Craig at our events, he rides a big rm 500 in the mans class no. 46.

WARNING TO ALL RIDERS – OBEY ALL FLAGS AT ALL TIMES OR ELSE.
